Come one and come all! This year's Garden Party Fundraiser, inflorescence!, will celebrate the Garden's wealth of flowers and offer a diverse array of food, wine, and music by VidyA and Dodge's Sundodgers. We invite you to join us in this celebration to raise funds for the Garden. Our silent auction will feature eclectic and unique items from Bay Area's diverse cultural community. This event is not to be missed!

Saturday, June 9 & Sunday, June 10 10 am - 6 pm
VidyA VidyA is an adventurous new group that merges the virtuosity of Jazz with the melodic and rhythmic nuance of South Indian classical (Carnatic) music. Led by critically-acclaimed saxophonist, Prasant Radhakrishnan along with Gautam Tejas (violin), David Ewell (bass) and Sameer Gupta (Drums), VidyA has emerged with a soulful, penetrating sound that pushes the labels of "fusion" or "world music." The drums and bass lock into one another, driving the music forward like a Jazz rhythm section, while the tenor saxophone and violin elaborate and improvise on Carnatic ragas. The group weaves in and out of the two genres while all the time merging them into one. VidyA translates the language of Carnatic music into the idiom of Jazz. |
 Hawaiian music, rags, traditional Mexican and popular Pan American songs, and polkas and waltzes you can dance to. The Dodge in Dodge's Sundodgers is Al Dodge (National Steel Guitar, mandolin, vocals), Fred Dortort (instrumentals), Glen Jordan (bass and ukelele), Zac Zalem (guitar mandolin, vocals) and Kathy Sparling (ukelele and vocals). |
